In your practice, you’re the doctor, and maybe the boss, but are you the leader? Are you developing yourself and your team to serve people and the Chiropractic profession? If you aren’t sure how to do this, start by asking yourself these three questions:
- Why am I a Chiropractor?
- What is my mission?
- How am I sending the ladder back down and serving my profession as a whole?
Answering these questions will help you evaluate yourself, and your team, but what happens if you don’t know the answers or want to do more? How do you develop into the best leader you can be, for yourself, your practice, and Chiropractic?
- Find your tribe. Who you allow to speak into your life is crucial to success, so take time to research and network until you find like-minded people to help bring you up. Serving our practice members with compassion can lead to burnout, but being around other Chiropractors can help you, and your team, refuel and continue serving at a higher level.
- Never stop learning and growing. We often overestimate our ability to lead, because it hasn’t been tested, and then we don’t know what to do when the test comes. Always ask yourself, your team, and your mentors what you can be doing to become a better leader. Ask, and be open to the answers- it will be uncomfortable, but growth happens outside the comfort zone.
- Speak out into the profession and send the ladder back down. The best leaders know that to lead, you have to serve. Plug in and teach other doctors, support them on their journey like your tribe supported you on yours, and remember that we have to stick together to keep moving Chiropractic forward. You may be a drop, but together we are the ocean.
